September 2011: Governor Christie and Acting Education Commissioner Cerf release the Education Transformation Task Force Report on Mandate Relief
December 2009: Governor-elect Christie's Red Tape Review group extended an invitation to GSCS to present mandate relief concepts and measures to its work group; GSCS was the first education group invited...The Governor-elect's Education Transition Team also reached out to GSCS in December on Mandate Relief. Many of the measures GSCS presented to the Governor's staff are in the process of being adopted and proposed in legislation and regulation. See the Lt. The Last Best Offer (reinstatement)bill introduced in June 2010, S2043, by Senator Joseph Kyrillos and S2021 sponsored by Senator Tom Kean (exempting certain high performing district from QSAC review)are other reflections of action being taken based on input from GSCS.
The governor signed an executive order establishing the Education Mandate Review Commission October 22, 2003. GSCS Executive Director, Lynne Strickland, named a commission member.
