5-13-08 Assembly Education Committee releases education bills from committee 5-12-08
Among other bills that passed out of committee yesterday were A10 the Administrative Cost reudction bill that requires school administrative costs to be reduced to 10% under the current regional benchmarks; A15 Moving school board member elections to November, eliminating school budget votes that are under cap but requiring second questions to be voted on in November; A1113 Reducing Notification of non-renewal to School Superintendents from one year in advance of contract term to 30 days per year the superintendent hasd served the districct (e.g., 2 years in service would equal a 60 day notice). Although the education community strongly testified their concerns about the impacts of many aspects of the bills, they passed out of committee, with bi-partisan support.
