The Quinnipiac (kwin-uh-PEE'-ack) University Poll released Tuesday finds disapproval from women has driven the Republican governor's approval rating slightly negative.
Overall, 44 percent of voters approve of the way the governor is doing his job, while 47 percent disapprove.
But women disapprove by a much larger margin, 54-36 percent.
Men like the job the governor is doing by a 53-39 percent margin.
Poll director Maurice Carroll says Christie's problem with women may be because they care more about schools. Women disapprove of the way Christie is handling education by 60-34 percent.
The poll surveyed 1,610 New Jersey registered voters from June 14-19 and has a sampling error margin of plus or minus 2.4 percentage points.
