8-31-06  Just released this afternoons by the Joint Committee on Public School Funding Reform -

Joint Committee’s Agenda for this Tuesday, 9-5-06:

"Joint Legislative Committee on Public School Funding Reform Tuesday, September 05, 2006 - 1:00 PM Meeting - Committee Room 11, 4th Floor, State House Annex, Trenton, NJ The committee will hear invited testimony from representatives of various education organizations on cost cutting measures that could be instituted in public schools."

(Testimony is to be limited to the single question stated on the agenda.)

IF YOU HAVE ANY SPECIFIC IDEAS IN REGARD TO COST SAVING MEASURES THAT YOUR DISTRICT ALREADY HAS INSTITUTED, OR THAT COULD BE INITIATED TO HELP TRIM SCHOOL BUDGET EXPENSES, PLEASE FORWARD THEM ASAP TO gscs2000@gmail.com  Thank you.

Additional FYI –

GSCS endorses an in-depth dialogue on how to bring greater cost-effective measures to districts.

However, since this is Iate notice for well-prepared information sharing, we anticipate that the committee will see this Tuesday’s agenda discussion as the beginning an on-going conversation that can be offer better, even more specific and more fine tuned ideas in the near future.

Recognition has to be given to the fact that September 5 is also problematic in that it is the day after a holiday weekend, but more importantly, the day when the new school year officially begins for almost all school districts in New Jersey.
