Star Ledger--These 9 N.J. schools just got a huge national award

 Nine New Jersey schools districts on Thursday were named National Blue Ribbon Schools, one of the highest honors given by the U.S. Department of Education.

The award honors the highest performing schools and the schools making the must progress toward closing achievement gaps on standardized tests.

Education Week--Money Jitters Are Never Far Below the Surface for School Leaders

School and district leaders worry they may not be ready for the next recession, are ambivalent about whether spending lines up with their academic goals, and say state legislatures are the biggest obstacle to making money decisions that match their students' needs, according to a national survey by the Education Week Research Center.
