Asbury Park Press--Murphy's $50 million extra school aid plan may be too late for Shore districts
TRENTON - Gov. Phil Murphy’s $50 million “one-time” additional aid plan for schools announced Tuesday during his annual budget address may be too little too late for some cash-strapped Shore districts.
Since additional aid is dependent upon the state Legislature approving the expenditure months from now, local school officials said it may not reach them until well after their budget deadlines in March and April.

Even as President Donald Trump sought to reassure the American public that the risk for the spread of coronavirus in the United States remains low, school districts are likely to be on the front lines in efforts to limit its impact.
Trump, who announced Wednesday night that Vice President Mike Pence will now oversee the federal government’s efforts to respond to coronavirus, said he believes that American schools should be prepared to respond.
