Trenton, NJ – The Study Commission on the Use of Student Assessments in New Jersey will conduct three regional sessions throughout the state to hear public testimony on January 27, 28 and 29. 

Gov. Chris Christie signed Executive Order No. 159, which instituted a study commission that will review the quality and effectiveness of K-12 student assessments administered in New Jersey. The nine-member commission is charged with reviewing and providing appropriate recommendations about the volume, frequency and impact of student assessments occurring throughout New Jersey school districts, including those administered for college admission, college credit, and college pathways. The Study Commission also is charged with making recommendations regarding the Core Curriculum Content Standards, including the Common Core State Standards, and the Partnership for Assessment of Readiness of College and Careers (PARCC) assessments.

People interested in testifying are asked to pre-register online on the Study Commission's website or by calling (609) 984-6024
(609) 984-6024. The Study Commission recommends that testimony be limited to five minutes per person. Individuals who want to attend but not testify also are asked to pre-register.

Session 1:
Tuesday, Jan. 27, 2015 at 10 a.m. in Civic Hall 105, Connector Building, Camden County College, 200 College Dr., Blackwood, NJ 08012-0200.

Session 2:
Wednesday, Jan. 28, 2015 at 4 p.m. in the Franklin Williams Middle School (MS #7) Auditorium, 222 Laidlaw Ave., Jersey City, NJ 07306.

Session 3:
Thursday, Jan. 29, 2015 at 6 p.m. in Jackson Liberty High School Auditorium, 125 N. Hope Chapel Road, Jackson, NJ 08527.
