The New Jersey Department of Education (NJDOE) released its Summer Educator Evaluation Memo on July 30. The following topics are addressed:
· Introduction of Tim Matheney, new Director of Educator Evaluation for the NJDOE
· Update on selected districts for the Excellent Educators for New Jersey (EE4NJ) Teacher Evaluation Cohort 2 Pilot and EE4NJ Principal Evaluation Pilot
o Note: The Title I Notice of Grant Opportunity for EE4NJ Cohort 2 is being rebid for eligible districts. Please find more information and a list of these districts at: http://www.state.nj.us/education/EE4NJ/ngo/
· Information on NJDOE’s process for developing a list of approved evaluation instruments
o Note: The Request for Qualifications (RFQ) for eligible entities to submit teaching practice evaluation instruments for state review and addition to the approved list was released on July 30; all details can be found at: http://www.state.nj.us/education/EE4NJ/providers/
· Information on capacity-building requirements for all districts in 2012-13, including a model communications plan for district use
· Highlights from EE4NJ Teacher Evaluation Cohort 1 Pilot work in the field, including a spotlight on Woodstown-Pilesgrove’s work to capture and share educator feedback
