• School Construction update:

               September 27: bond referenda

                Education Law Center is suing on behalf of Abbot districts

                Senator Ron Rice has introduced bill for lame duck session to offer ‘bridge’ funding of $3B:

                   $2B to Abbotts and $1B for Regular Operating Districts until future of school construction

                   program is settled. Gubernatorial candidates have both announced that Abbott funding is a

                   state obligation, thus the $1B would most likely required to be put to public vote.

                 SCC meeting 10-18-05 re: status of grant agreement funding and

                     “debt service candidate” districts; no official information anticipated until

                     after November 8 elections.

                       October 3 Joint Committee on the Public Schools meeting: GSCS *testimony
