New Jersey Spotlight--Opinion: Murphy’s Budget — Caught Between Sweeney and Hard Place

No matter what governor does — from signing budget to vetoing it wholesale — Senate President Sweeney is the real winner

If all goes according to plan, when Gov. Phil Murphy arrives in his office on June 20, a fiscal year 2020 budget will either be on his desk or on its way.

Star Ledger--Former inspector general calls for a review of N.J.'s school construction fund. Are we throwing millions of dollars away?

As Yogi Berra might have said, it’s deja vu all over again at the Schools Development Authority (SDA).

A short 14 years ago, reporters, the public and elected officials were in an uproar about the billions of public dollars spent by the SDA’s predecessor. The $8.6 billion in public funds committed should have been sufficient to build schools in the state’s needy districts, but half of the funds were gone with little to show for those billions: some repairs but not one new school built.

Star Ledger: Whistleblower: Murphy Was Warned About SDA

The official in charge of ethics at the Schools Development Authority says she warned Phil Murphy of illegal hires.  The response?  File a complaint.
