The debate over the fiscal year 2019 budget has become a high-stakes game and it’s become unclear, which — if any — side will eventually win.

The Record--Paramus school bus crash: Lawmakers discuss age limit, better supervision of drivers
TRENTON — In the wake of last month's deadly school bus crash, state lawmakers Monday raised the issue of age limits for school bus drivers and seemed confused by how two different state agencies determine driver eligibility based on their criminal records and medical history.
They also heard from an 11-year-old survivor of the May 17 crash on Route 80 in Mount Olive who implored them to require school buses to have better seat belts.
In a joint hearing between the Senate and Assembly transportation committees, lawmakers had many questions about the safety of school buses as well as the vetting and supervision of school bus drivers.
