‘…Despite the issues of poverty facing many students in her district, Lyles told NJ Advance Media she believes PARCC scores can improve in future years.
"I believe very strongly that our students can achieve. We just have to work very 'smart.' We see places where it works with high poverty rates, with high (numbers of) students of color," she said, holding herself as an example of a black student from a high-poverty background who made it. "I cannot give up on a single child." ‘
